Happy 2013

Wishing all my lovely readers a very happy year ahead. May it bring you good health and happiness.

I haven’t been here very much recently. I am going to try to be here more often. It’s one of my goals for this year.

I have looked back on the goals I set myself for last year and was pleased to find that most of them were met. The losing a few inches off the waistline went a bit awry -they went and then crept back on. However, the plus side of this is all the lovely food I have enjoyed adding those inches.

This year’s goals are being formulated… I am going to finish a tapestry that I started when I was 17 (that’s  nearly twenty-one years ago – I know a sorry state of affairs if ever there was one).  I am going to make another dress. I am going to try to shift a couple of those inches again. The rest of the list is to be decided, but I am going to try to blog more.

So Happy New Year.

Kath x

I hope that you have a few goals of your own

  1. Happy New Year! Yes, I have one cooking related goal. I’m going to increase my repertoire by making sure that every week, at least once, I cook an evening meal that includes a dish I’ve never done before. I do have quite a lot of recipes up my sleeve, but it’s very tempting to fall back on old favourites all the time. This is tomorrow’s:

Thanks for all your wonderful recipes!

      1. The soup was great. Really recommended. I look forward to reading many more of your wonderful ideas this year too. So never mind that tapestry – you just stay in the kitchen and in front of that computer!

  2. Happy New Year kath et all. My resolution is to eat more butter and be kinder. Looking forward to meeting here and there this year, Rxx

  3. Happy New Year to you too Kath. Well done for reaching your last year’s resolutions and good luck with this lot. I gave up making them ages ago as I never seemed to achieve them. I have an unfinished tapestry from my teenage years too and a knitted bedspread which I would dearly love to finish one day as it could be a beauty.

  4. Hi, I discovered your blog whilst searching for damson vodka recipes and really love it (the blog and the damson vodka!). Particularly useful as you include aga instructions which I am able to easy translate for cooking in my lovely Everhot range. I have a ham in soak as I type and just about to tackle the Marmalade….

  5. Happy to report that the ham was a huge success – very tasty and tender. The marmalade tastes really nice and tangy but I think it’s a bit on runny side; so I’m going to invest in a jam thermometer and a better sieve, as I wonder if I didn’t get enough pulp pushed through. I didn’t notice your tip about halving all the ingredients until I’d started so will be looking out for lots of recipes that use marmalade lol!
